In order to bring back to rail a significant share of containerisable general goods traffic and achieve the vision of increasing the modal share of rail based cargo from the present 40% to 50% during the first decade of the new millennium, CONCOR operates a series of scheduled container trains on trunk routes between major cities. Popularly called CONTRACK , these inter city services are marked by fixed day departures, fast and assured transit times, and offer a completely reliable solution for customers' logistics requirements.

CONCOR started 'CONTRACK' services in early 1997, and as many as 209 CONTRACK trains between various origin - destination points were run in December 2001. Client-focused customized services are the backbone of this segment. Each service is tailor-made to suit the specific requirements of the clients concerned. Large companies with substantial movement requirements are the ones in focus, and these services will form the spokes in the hub-spoke strategy being planned by CONCOR for expansion of its domestic business.
